The past couple of days posts have- I hope- given you a bit of an insight into how I found myself as a mom of multiples. There are many more turns in the road to share with you, but tonight I thought I'd try and get you involved.
When you get pregnant, there is advice to be found everywhere. Don't eat this, make sure you take that, etc..... What no one advised me to do is practice shaving your legs and your bikini line with your eyes shut while you can still see them. There are months that go by where you can't see your legs in the shower not to mention your nether regions- but there are a whole host of people that will and - in my opinion anyway- I think it's important that you show yourself in the best possible way! The thing is, no one told me that if I practice shaving with my eyes shut while I can still see those parts I would escape the deep trauma of seeing myself after blindly (and without practice) hacking away! It wasn't pretty. I can only apologise to all those that were exposed to the monstrosity that was my bikini area and legs! So there you have it. My top tip for pregnancy. Practice blind shaving. What's yours? If you've never been pregnant, still get involved- what question do you really want to ask, but have never had the courage to? (googling it doesn't count!). Remember, sharing is caring.

I never even gave that sort of thing a thought when I finally became pregnant and so when my son was born two months prem, unfortunately my nether regions looked like Bob Marley in a headlock! At least you were semi decent. 😁

Hilarious!! That's my point- no one tells you the non essential stuff that you look back on and go doh! What non essential advice would you give?!

Get a nice new showerhead. If you've had loads of stitches, the best feeling in the world is sitting on the side of the bath to have a wee and gently watering your lady garden to stop the stinging. It's sheer bliss!

I found the nice thick sanitary towels a real comfort after having had stitches so stocking up on those! Also if not breast feeding when milk comes in to wear a bra that straps those bad boys down!

Make sure you have a bottle of lactulose...the change in bowel activity was quite a surprise, never in my life did I think I would be afraid to do a number 2 😂

Oh and while we're on the subject of bowel movements...spontaneous farts! If you're not one to freely let rip when needed, prepare yourself! You won't even know they're coming!! x

I got crazy too hot while I was pregnant almost immediately and spent most of the time eating my way through pints of ice cubes so I guess my top tip would be to keep a stock of ice cubes at the ready! Also re the nether regions - we had IVF too and so is advise anyone on that route to be prepared for treble the normal amount of people seeing your bits!

The day they say they can do an external scan is the most beautiful day of all! In fact I thought they'd got it wrong and nearly stripped off anyway! x

Haha!! This is spot on 😂 Their is a certain pressure to "be prepared" in the nether regions for labour when in actual fact if you've been pushing for over an hour and your baby boy is OP you couldn't care less if you looked like chewbacca down there!!

Better still- they change them for you when you can't move your legs after a section! :)

As I couldn't see any bits anymore at 9 months preggas I decided to use imac (veet now-that's how long ago it was) on my bikini line. Sat on the bed and waited for it to work its magic. Hopped in the shower to rinse and it had taken far more off than my bikini line!! Itchy labour ensued-top tip, don't use hair removal cream on bits you can't see!!

I have to admit I'm a seasonal shaver anyway so being hairy is just standard for me!! But two days before my son was born we attended a wedding so (with help) I had fresh legs and painted toe nails!!!!! I felt like posh spice giving birth.... Well for about an hour. When they finally decided it was time to drag the boy out with forceps and gave me an episiotomy, they asked if the student could come in and watch...... I invited it just like I was have friends over 'yes of course everyone is welcome', they remained for the stitching up part too, then I suddenly realised I have a completely strange MAN and his sidekicks all staring and discussing my nether regions whilst my hubby sat there completely oblivious staring at his new son. My theory is 'I'm sure they have seen worse than this'. In terms of advice just don't worry, and puppy training pads!! Great as an extra layer of protection for your bed if those huge pads decide to slip in the night, they also double up as disposable changing mats for the bambino (wilko are the cheapest they even beat the £1 shop :)
